Crying can be very cathartic. Women are better at it than men. In fact, some men may see it as a sign of weakness. However, crying has the effect of releasing all kinds of pent up emotions and feelings and this is a good way to handle stress. However, constant crying or crying on a regular basis for no apparent reason is not a release, it can be a sign of depression and may need medical intervention, so do be sure to seek help if you need it.
Men find it harder to seek help. In fact, they tend to bury their heads in the sand hoping that things will change. One of the ways that men can combat stress is by exercise. In fact, this isn’t just limited to men, but men gain the most benefit as it allows them to be in control. Control is one of the most important aspects for a man so when that control is removed, as in situations that cause stress, it should be replaced by something that can be controlled. This, of course, will not remove the stress situation, however, it will change the way it is responded to, and as we know it is the response to situations that is the most damaging, not the actual situation itself.
If you can learn a way of coping with stressful situations, then you can save yourself a lot of discomfort. If you ignore signs of stress, rather than deal with them, they can lead to more problems that will certainly need addressing. The long-term effects of stress can lead to heart problems, increased blood pressure, strokes and arterial blockages, to mention just a few problems. Therefore, by taking time out to relax and release anxiety, tension and other stress factors, you are helping to maintain your overall health and avoid debilitating or fatal diseases. It’s worth a second thought, isn’t it? Pass the tissues.
